Who We Are
A civic innovation and democracy institution.
Founded in 2012 — originally as the Youth in Technology and Arts Network — YOTAN was established to address one of the most pressing challenges facing democratic societies: the disconnect between citizens and the institutions that govern them.

Our Belief
Democracy is strongest when citizens are informed, engaged, and empowered.
YOTAN works to strengthen the foundations of democracy by building the systems, tools, and leadership capacities that enable active citizenship, accountable governance, and inclusive development.
We are not simply a youth organization, a service-delivery NGO, or a project implementer.
We are a civic innovation and democracy institution — building democratic opportunity infrastructure for young people, communities, and societies.
What We Are Building
We envision societies where —
- 01Citizens actively shape public decisions
- 02Governance is transparent and accountable
- 03Young people are leaders and problem-solvers
- 04Public institutions serve people effectively
- 05Opportunity is accessible to all
- 06Democracy delivers meaningful outcomes for communities
